The team
The people who fight, every day, for open source and the liberation of filament RFID — so that a spool’s identity belongs to its owner, readable by anyone, locked by no one.
Benoit Michaut — CEO & Founder
Section titled “Benoit Michaut — CEO & Founder”“Made for Makers. Open to Everyone. Born from the community, TigerTag empowers users with real data and total freedom. 100 % open-source, it connects your material, printers, and brands under one universal language today and tomorrow. Join the movement. Connect your world with TigerTag.”
Vision: Cheap & Reusable.
Benoit started TigerTag in 2023, right after a Formnext where proprietary spool tags were multiplying — and flew to China to convince printer makers and filament factories that an open, neutral, cross-platform standard was the better path (the full story).
3D France is a partner that has supported the project’s open-source and ecological vision from the very beginning — and pushed filament manufacturers to integrate TigerTag into their spools.
A real maker bench, the whole system in use — this is what the fight is for.
And everyone fighting alongside
Section titled “And everyone fighting alongside”- The factory partners who chose the open chip over a walled garden — Rosa3D, eSun, Sunlu, Landu, Jamg He, R3D — with Filforme, Nanovia and more being integrated.
- The independent builders who picked up the protocol on their own — OpenRFID, Spooly Tracker, the Snapmaker U1 community firmware (third-party integrations).
- The community — the makers who tag, weigh, share, report, translate and push the whole thing forward, one spool at a time.
TODO: add further team members (name, role, one-liner) as they wish to appear publicly.
